Outreach and Learning

OA East is one of the country’s leading exponents of public archaeology. Working in partnership with Cambridgeshire Archaeology, Cambridgeshire County Council, we actively promote education and community projects. Other partners include District and Parish Councils, English Heritage, schools and local communities.

Our key purpose is to increase understanding of the rich heritage of Cambridgeshire and the East Anglian region.

We undertake or provide:

  • Talks and projects to schools/colleges/youth organisations  
  • Educational resources and national curriculum advice 
  • Free artefact handling packs for schools 
  • Work experience and volunteer opportunities 
  • Excavation open days 
  • Ancient monument activity days 
  • Living History events
  • Guided walks around Cambridgeshire’s monuments 
  • Free school tours of archaeological sites in Cambridgeshire
  • Evening lectures and talks  
  • Conferences and exhibitions
  • Community archaeology projects
